A photojournalist toiling in the trenches, Benson was on his way to Africa to cover a news story when his editor from the London newspaper Daily Express called to inform him he was sending him to Paris with a rising pop band. The year was 1964, and the band was The Beatles. That serendipitous union of photographer and ever-so- charming subjects fast-tracked Benson's career in a way he never could have imagined.
