"I designed a hot air balloon,
thinking about how the holi-
days are a representation of
hope: for happiness, for new
beginnings, for being our best
selves. My process starts by
coming up with an idea that
will express what I am trying
to convey. I usually surround
myself with several different
materials, and I start putting
them together as I sketch.
Eventually, one of the ideas
will become more interesting
visually and that is the piece
that is eventually chosen."
